Description

A delicious homemade banana syrup perfect for pancakes and waffles.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mash the bananas thoroughly until no chunks remain.
  2. In a saucepan, combine mashed bananas, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, salt, and water.
  3. Heat over medium, stirring often, until mixture begins to simmer.
  4. Let it simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring regularly, until it thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. For a smoother syrup, use a blender or strain through a fine sieve.
  7. Allow syrup to cool before storing in a jar.
  8. Refrigerate and reheat before serving.
