- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mash the bananas thoroughly until no chunks remain.
- In a saucepan, combine mashed bananas, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, salt, and water.
- Heat over medium, stirring often, until mixture begins to simmer.
- Let it simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring regularly, until it thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- For a smoother syrup, use a blender or strain through a fine sieve.
- Allow syrup to cool before storing in a jar.
- Refrigerate and reheat before serving.
