Description

Delicious homemade soft pretzels that are perfect for snacking or as an appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (unbleached)
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • ⅓ cup baking soda
  • 1 tsp coarse sea salt (plus more for topping)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and divide into small pieces (about 1 inch). Roll each piece into a rope shape and twist into bite-sized pretzels.
  2. Boil and Bake: Bring water to a boil; add baking soda. Boil each pretzel bite for about 30 seconds before placing on a lined baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Add Finishing Touches: Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse sea salt while warm.

Notes

  • Ensure the water temperature is accurate to activate the yeast properly.
  • For extra flavor, you can sprinkle additional toppings such as garlic powder or grated cheese before baking.
