- 2 cups fresh pitted cherries
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (divided)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, toss cherries with ¼ cup sugar and set aside.
- In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and remaining sugar. Stir in milk and melted butter until combined.
- Add vanilla extract to the batter and mix well.
- Pour half the batter into a greased baking dish. Spread cherry mixture over it, then drizzle remaining batter on top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.

- Serve warm for the best flavor.
- Can be topped with whipped cream or ice cream.
